I’m a huge fan of George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones) I’ve read the the 1st two books n watched the TV show. A while back I’ve noticed a board game based on the show getting a lot of buzz. People recommending it for the fans. So, I ordered it. To be honest the shipping costs are more expensive than the actual game. I paid kd35 in total for this.
So the board game is pretty complicated, it’s a strategy game. Unlike Risk this doesn’t have dice. In other words the element of Luck is highly downgraded here.
The goal of the game: after the 10th and final round whoever gains most castles /strongholds wins the game, or you simply take any 7 castles / stronghold at any given round.
Of course you play as one of 6 most famous Houses in Westeroes (the continent which the events take place) Stark, Baratheon, Martell, Tyrell, Lannister, Greyjoy. Sorry no Dothraki 😛
It will take you a long time to read the rules. It will take you longer time to teach them to people T.T
Last time we played for 5 hrs with like an hour or so just for setting the game and teaching my friends the rules. Which are tricky, detailed, and long.
The other problem is the items of the game. It has a lot of Tokens, armies, and cards. So, I used small bags which didn’t help at all. Fortunately, Yesterday I bought small boxes from (soug Bo Emya) 😛 they were very very helpful and handy. Now each box got all the House’s items in one place.
Also, I bought 2 Cover Cases used for storing Playing Cards. I used the Cover Cases to store the board game cards, and they fit perfectly.
I really liked the game. It’s not easy, very challenging and needs lots of patience. I recommend it for the fans of the show.
